How long does mkv2vob take to convert

Nick Active Member. I use Gotsent google it and it takes approx 20 mins to convert a 4. I have a Toshiba Tecra laptop with Dual core 2. Try Gotsent, it's free. Nick said:. Hi Nick, Thanks for the quick reply.

Does the program do this? Click to expand Axum Distinguished Member. You don't state the original file size, but no, that sounds like an extremely long time, i doubt having a USB drive as a destination is helping. Use mkv2vob, if you've got an mkv there's no real reason to use anything else, it'll convert a p file in less than 5 mins.

Then files I am muxing with mkv2vob are p files and come in at just over 8Gb. I set-up mkv2vob to split the finished files. It works. But the time issue is a problem since it ties up my processor for a day! Jaydafeesh Active Member. Just finished transcoding a p mkv and it took 3 and a quarter hrs. Normally they take about an hr to do. Maybe a day to transcode a full 8Gb mkv file is the norm! I wonder if we will ever get an update for PS3 that will play mkv container as is.

Would this be a possibility in the future? Not all p files need transcoding. A lot of the older ones do, but the newer ones are fine. Depends on the h level iirc - if it's 4. Same for audio.

Your video is about to change the files and convert into MP4. It says transcoding video, and that step takes forever. Btw i am native German xD.

These files can get pretty big and it took my PS3 about a minute to find them. Works like a dream. Thank you so much for uploading! I have a problem. I have downloaded a MKV movie and the subs from the same movie. Tried this out, first video worked great, but the second video I did..

Not sure what happened, tried it a few times playing with some settings but no success. Anyone have any suggestions? When I finish encode the video and sound works but the sound is a few seconds to slow on the ps3 and pc. How do I fix that? Thank you. You are a life saver. I had to go through a lot of programs just to get the right one because it was a bad dl, and i tried almost every program known to man. These two programs work. Best of all, no cutting. I meant to say no I do not mean DTS.

I know a lot of people think it is just HD picture, you can also get HD audio as well and hi resolution audio too now.. AC3 Is Fine, and more than good enough, i tried converting mine into PCM, but the PS3 cannot read that or dts, furthermore, i usually download an 8gb file and split in 2, only very silly people will download a 20GB file, its not worth it, and takes far to much time, and when you say HD audio, do you mean DTS?

Very nice video blackheart. The best thing about that mkv thing is that I can put 2 movies into 1 file! I did it with the to love ru 1 hour especial:D. Do i have to use the removable storage, can i do all of this then open my files through the ps3 since i have it connected to my pc? Have come across a problem when using mvk2vob.. Please let me know:o. Playstations are shit! MKV first appeared in December of The playstation 3 was released 4 years later in November of NTFS was already in use in btw.

Seriously, sony, update your shit. Pls answer. Whenever i go onto my ps3 the files are there but when i try to open them nothing comes up pls answer. Thanks man this was very very helpful! So, how does Subtitles work with this?

Because even under configuration, when you can set subtitles to be converted to, it fails during the trnscoding. What can I do? The video works on my PS3, but no subtitles.

It has both Mac and Windows version. The subtitles shows up but its like and some random ass code. I know this is a year old video but please help and respond. I did this for several files, and in the end my ps3 could play it, however there was some audio lag. Felt like the something went wrong in the process…. Help please. I was surprised to find already that not everyone uses cinema audio formats like HD master audio…yet most people have heard of DTS.

HD audio can be found on most blu rays. Once that is done you can go ahead and click Start Muxing — it should dump the converted file into the same folder with a 1 after the title or you can manually rename it — this process can take up to 10 minutes depending on the size of your file and computer.

Once complete, load the file up in mkv2vob and convert as normal. I know this extra step seems like a royal pain, but after a few times through it becomes second nature. Anyways, thats the most successful work around I have found so far, I have only had a few files give me headaches out of hundreds.
