However, Jennifer finally learns that her plan worked, and Hawkeye is still alive. Apparently, there was another Earth out there that is similar to real life, where comic characters live as regular everyday citizens and there were no superheroes at all. That Earth called themselves Earth A, Earth A or Earth was first seen in Fantastic Four and they had discovered a way to interlope to other dimensions.
She begins battling and defeats the Rhino , however she eventually gets arrested for interloping dimensions, and is sent to a holding cell with other interlopers. Jennifer of Earth B who is still powerless because of Tony Stark injecting nanites in her comes and reveals that she is going to be her lawyer. Afterwards, Jennifer decides to use She-Hulk to help gather up other interlopers. When they brought an interloping Doctor Strange , Jennifer gets into an argument with Mr. Fantastic about the nanites, and how it is permanent and cannot be undone.
It is decided and agreed, and even Reed Richards gives Jennifer his blessings. Jennifer goes through the transporter to head for Earth A, however, Reed realizes that he could reverse her direction which will cause her atoms to match the one with Jennifer from Earth A. Jennnifer, now with her recovered powers, decides to stay in her own Earth, and the Jennifer from Earth A realized that she missed her old home, and decides to return. Hulk returns to Earth and he is very angry.
Strange, Mr. Fantastic, and Professor X to come face him. He arrives in Manhattan and battles Iron Man, defeating him easily even when he is wearing his Hulk Buster armor. The Avengers arrive and prepare to battle, and as Hercules charges at the Hulk, Jennifer stops him and tells them that she will try to talk to her cousin first. Jennifer tries to calm down the Hulk, but he stands his ground, forcing them to beat him if they want to stop him.
Jennifer gets a couple of good shots in on the Hulk, but he overpowers her and slams her head first into the ground. Jennifer, who now has her powers again, but no longer works for The Initiative , began a new career. Now working for the Freeman Bonding Inc. In this new job, Jennifer works with a new partner. The two of them track their target to Minnesota and eventually Jennifer gets impatient waiting for their target to come out, and alerts her partner that she is going in.
The two made a 20 dollar bet that Jennifer "couldn't do it without turning green. However, a cat startles her and Absorbing Man who was their target's cousin grabs her neck and snaps it in half. The two battle each other across town. She-Hulk is then ambushed by a tiny Titania , who was shrunken by Hank Pym's particles. Titania invades She-Hulk's ears and begins causing havoc in there. Meanwhile, the Jennifer that got her neck snapped gets up while her neck was still out of joint. She captures their target and heads for She-Hulk.
Eventually She-Hulk is able to defeat Absorbing Man and complete their mission. Later that night, as "Jen" is driving, She-Hulk comes up to the front to ride with her. It turns out that "Jen" was really a Skrull named Jazinda who was pretending to be Jennifer.
Around this time, She-Hulk briefly joined Nighthawk 's new team of Defenders. Unfortunately, the group failed to gain any traction, and presumably disbanded.
Their first mission was to travel to Marinmer to give earthquake aid, where they were confronted by the Winter Guard. After an initial misunderstanding and a brief battle, the two teams worked together to help the devastated people.
The Lady Liberators then sought out and battled the Red Hulk , though with mixed results. After a confrontation with Lyra and the Sentry , Jennifer decided to find out the Red Hulk's identity. This led to a confrontation with Doc Samson in which She-Hulk was captured. She was being held prisoner by the Intelligencia but was released Lyra. When they reach the ground, they decide to help save the White House from the "Hulked-out" Aimarines.
The two live in a ritzy apartment in the upper east side of Manhattan paid for by Bruce and Steve Rogers while Lyra is sent to high school to learn how to live in normal society. Their first target is the Trapster. After Lyra's first day in her cover at high school, Jennifer and Lyra next go after the Wizard , who had purchased a large yacht and filled it with women in bathing suits.
During the fight, Wizard's yacht crashes, allowing them to capture him. Wizard is then brought to a prison within Banner's Death Valley Gamma Base, where the Hulk convinces him to reveal the location of their next target: the Red Ghost.
During the fight with the Red Ghost and his apes, Jennifer is knocked away, leaving Lyra to battle them alone. Amelia a girl from Lyra's school who discovered her secret is then found on the carrier by one of the apes named Petro, but Jennifer returns and saves her. Their next target is Klaw. After receiving a message from Bruce, Lyra and Jennifer arrive in Switzerland and break into the base where Mad Thinker is helping Klaw get rid of his powers by transferring them into a creation called Byte.
However, the process is stopped when Lyra starts destroying machines before she knows what they are. With Klaw's energy having nowhere else to go, an explosion destroys Mad Thinker's base. Outside the destroyed base, Klaw wakes up and attacks the Hulks, who soon overcome and defeat the sound powered duo. Later on Lyra is at her high school dance in her human form when her boyfriend asks her to dance.
Unfortunately the Wizard has broken out of his prison and goes to Lyra's dance to kill her. However, on seeing a blast coming from the Wizard, Jake steps in front of it to protect the human Lyra. Seeing her date harmed, Lyra begins to fight the Wizard, however the fight isn't going so well for her and she is almost killed by Bentley when Jennifer shows up.
After the Wizard is defeated everyone at the dance blames Lyra, Amelia even lies saying she hadn't known Lyra was a Hulk. Lyra and Jennifer than leave the dance with Lyra saddened because she had hurt her friends. Jennifer served as one of the replacement members along with Scott Lang, Medusa and Darla Deering of the Future Foundation or the Fantastic Four in the 4 minute absence of Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben as they travelled 'beyond time and space' however this turns out to be a lot longer as the Fantastic Four don't return in 4 minutes.
Having been persuaded to fill in for Thing, something the four resident Moloids have also taken to, replacing "The Ben" with "The Jen. During this she helped out Captain America who was standing trial for murder, assisted Doctor Doom's Son to become independent from Latveria and shrunk down to find a man before he explodes.
While defending the town from a megalodon attack, America Chavez accidently breaks a section of a wall called the Shield which protects Arcadia from zombies from the other side, this is against the law enforced of God Doom, who orders her to be banished to the Shield for the rest of her life.
Nico, upset by this, runs off only to encounter a being called Singularity. A portal to another world is discovered and She-Hulk decides to investigate, this brings the Thor Corps into the mix and they try to arrest Jen, Medusa however prevents this at the cost of her life.
The portal is of Asgardian nature and its found that Loki is behind everything in an attempt to overthrow Jen and rule as Baroness herself, this plan fails however and Loki destroys a section of the Shield allowing the zombie horde to invade Arcadia. The battle was won thanks to Singularity taking away all the zombies but sacrificing herself to do so, after which Loki was arrested and Arcadia started to rebuild itself. After the events of Secret Wars, The main members of the A-Force minus Loki and America Chavez were brought back together by Singularity who entered universe , however no one but Singularity remembers the events in Arcadia.
They reluctantly team up to defeat a threat called Antimatter from capturing Singularity. After Discovering a new Inhuman called Ulysses who has an ability to see into the future, Captain Marvel uses this power to prepare for attacks and disasters to prevent them from coming true.
One attack has Thanos arriving on Earth to capture the cosmic cube and while the defence was a success, one of War Machine's missiles strayed and hit She Hulk.
It was thought that Jen had died in hospital due to the friendly fire attack however it is later revealed that she had entered a coma, which she later comes out of only to be told that Bruce has been killed by Hawkeye.
In the aftermath of Thanos' attack, She-Hulk now sports a scarred form with gray skin instead of green, much like Bruce's Gray Hulk form. This new incarnation of She-Hulk is more violent and bestial than its predecessor, causing Jennifer to mostly remain in her human form in order to avoid hurting those around her. It is also shown that she is experiencing lingering PTSD over the incident.
When the many different Avengers teams went their separate ways after stopping the competition between Grandmaster and The Challenger , the Dark Celestials attacked Earth forcing a group of heroes to spontaneously team up and take them down.
Jen was near one of the Celestials landfall and was hit with enough gamma radiation to transform her Hulk form into a more muscular and savage version. As a member of this new Avengers group, Jen would get involved with a number of incidents revolving around the oldest heroic mantles on Earth. Centuries old machinations of Mephisto were coming to a head. After the Avengers adopted a baby Brandy chosen by the Star Brand , they were attacked by Moon Knight on special orders of Khonshu , who wanted to unite the power of the mantles to subdue the incoming final mantle, The Phoenix Force , and turn them against Mephisto by a single champion.
Moon Knight eventually defected from Khonshu, allowing the chosen champions to keep access to their mantles. Jen ultimately did not win. When the Avengers were investigating a message from the Moon, they were met by Swordsman and Quoi of the Cotati. They wanted to warn the Avengers of a Skrull-Kree alliance that was headed for Earth. Meanwhile, Swordsman invited Jen to one of their gardens promising to fix the savage power upgrade of her Hulk form.
This was a trap, however. Jen was killed and possessed by a Cotati plant. No one could tell she had been taken over because she already had green skin, a side-effect of the possession process. Her teammates just assumed that the Swordsman had fixed her like he said he would. After the Cotati people revealed their true plans, Mantis and members of the Fantastic Four tried to confront Quoi.
Thanks to The Leader manipulating the Green Door to the Below Place, all gamma mutates proved to be immortal, thus Jen was able to make her way back to her body.
With some encouraging words from Ben Grimm, Jen was able to overpower the Cotati infection and rejoin the fight. They rushed her through a trial and locked her up in The Red Room so they could turn her into an asset. They subjected her to even more radiation and a lot of psychological torture. When her team showed up to save her, the Russians were forced to expedite the process. This was all part of Jen's plans. The Agents of Wakanda had collected intel that political upheaval in Atlantis was caused by Russia and was planned to be the catalyst for a global upheaval.
The Russians had a plan to use their mole in the Avengers to kidnap She-Hulk and turn her into their patsy. Once this was explained to Jen, she volunteered to go through Red Room training, confident she could not be broken.
After her escape, she heads to Atlantis, with Gorilla-Man by her side and the Avengers not far behind her, to evacuate Namor's people and protect them from the incoming Winter Guard. In human form, Jennifer Walters has the normal strength and durability of a physically fit woman in very good health. She also possesses an above average but not superhuman level of intelligence, and is trained in hand-to-hand combat as well possessing some martial arts training. Her brilliant legal mind is just as important an asset to her as her superhuman strength.

By Sean Finley Published Sep 18, She eventually gains control of her transformations when Michael Morbius cures her of a lethal blood disease.
As a criminal defense lawyer, she defended Dr. Michael Morbius in his trial for his vampiric killings. Eventually, Jennifer decides that she is going to retain her She-Hulk form permanently—preferring the freedom, confidence, and assertiveness that it gave her compared to her more timorous and fragile "normal" form. After her brief solo career, she joined the Avengers. This led to her being transported to Battleworld by the Beyonder and her participation in the Secret Wars, most notable for sparking her long-standing rivalry with the newly empowered Titania.
After the heroes returned to Earth, she temporarily replaced the Thing as a member of the Fantastic Four. This radiation exposure had a drastic effect on Jennifer: she could no longer transform back into her original human form.
However, this was an agreeable turn of events for her, since she preferred being She-Hulk, and it was revealed much later that the block was purely psychological. Shortly after that, she appeared before the Supreme Court, where she battled Titania again.
She became hypnotized by the Ringmaster into becoming a performer in his circus and battled the Headmen. She had a long series of unusual encounters including when she battled Doctor Bong , first contended against Xemnu the Titan , encountered "Nick St. She-Hulk later discovered that Louise Mason had manipulated Tower into hiring her so that Mason might again star in a comic book and thus avoid dying of old age. After a time, She-Hulk returns to the Avengers.
Repeated exposure to the presence of her teammate Jack of Hearts , who has the innate ability to absorb radiation that is around him, leads to She-Hulk being unable to control her changes, which resulted in her tearing the Vision in half. It is then revealed that all of the events were caused by the Scarlet Witch. Now, when she is afraid, she not only turns into She-Hulk but her mind became maddened by paranoia and rage.
Jennifer flees, fearing that she will endanger her friends and others, leading to the "Search for She-Hulk" storyline. The other Avengers track her to the town of Bone, Idaho, where Jennifer is lying low but the anxiety of being found prompts her to change, causing her to damage much of the town. Her cousin shows up but fails to reason with her; he "hulks out" and the two fight—the devastation to the town subsequently being blamed on the Hulk.
Psychological limitations inhibit her transformation between her two forms. For a time, as detailed in "She-Hulk" 4, March , Jennifer works as a relief volunteer helping to repair Bone.
She gains confidence after solving a murder mystery, reveals her green alter-ego to the entire town, and then uses her strength to make many more repairs. This, combined with Leonard Samson's new 'gamma-charger', gives her full control over her transformations for, as she said, 'the time being'. This offer is dependent upon Jennifer remaining human while she worked for the firm.
However, as an attorney, she advised individuals on both sides of the Civil War. She agreed to file suit against Peter Parker for fraud on behalf of her father-in-law, Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. Her intention is to keep the suit tied up in the courts indefinitely.
Her mission is to fight various foes of the Hulk while training heroes under the Initiative. Due to her involvement in S. Tech that transforms her into human form. Enraged, she tells Stark that, although he may have taken She-Hulk out of the equation, he still has to face Jennifer Walters, one of the best lawyers in the country. Jennifer informs Stark that he's miscalculated: She-Hulk would have just pummeled him, but Jennifer Walters has the ability to destroy him.
On her way home, Jennifer runs into Amadeus Cho , a young genius out looking for friends of the Hulk. Cho, whom the Hulk once saved, discovered what the Illuminati had done to the Hulk, and he wants help in finding him. Cho says he can permanently restore Jennifer's powers if she'll join him, but she politely refuses, instead directing him to Hercules and Angel.
In World War Hulk 1, re-powered She-Hulk assists in the evacuation of Manhattan ; in 2, she tries to reason with her cousin, who has just destroyed Stark Tower during his battle with Iron Man.
The Hulk warns her to leave, but she stands her ground. After she lands a punch squarely to his face, the Hulk smashes her into the ground, creating a crater around her body.
As he moves on to his next confrontation, all Jennifer can say is: "God help us all. Jennifer is held captive with the other defeated heroes at Madison Square Garden , which the Hulk has converted into a gladiatorial arena. The heroes have been implanted with the same obedience discs that compelled the Hulk and his allies to fight one another during their time on the planet Sakaar. In She-Hulk 19, Jennifer returns to the law firm to work on suing Tony Stark for stealing her powers.
She is subpoenaed to give a testimony in a case in which Mallory Book is trying to prove that the Leader's criminal acts are the result of a shift of personality induced by his mutation, and an addiction to his gamma-irradiated powers, and that he thus can't be held accountable for his actions.
During her testimony, Jennifer realizes that she herself is "addicted" to being She-Hulk; Mallory forces her to admit that she's had a long list of sexual partners as She-Hulk. After the testimony, Pug appears and the two spend an evening together as friends, which cheers her up. She confronts Mallory the next day and tells her that she'll put a stop to her Leader case. However, in She-Hulk 20, it is revealed that the Leader has been acquitted of his crimes.
The action in the issue takes place during or after the events of World War Hulk. The discrepancy is resolved in She-Hulk Jennifer explains that Tony Stark temporarily disabled the nanobots to allow her to assist in the battle against her cousin, only to reactivate them when the battle was over.
She amends her suit against Stark to demand the permanent deactivation of the nanobots. At some point after World War Hulk , Jennifer was brought before the Living Tribunal and asked to weigh her universe against a newer, better 'cosmic trophy wife' version, described by Walters as "an ultimate universe. The aliens, called The Recluses, wish to keep their existence a secret.
She-Hulk earlier decreed that Qyre not reveal knowledge of the Recluses' existence at the meetings of the Watchers. Qyre, who holds knowledge of the plan, is unable to speak of it to anyone else. At She-Hulk's time trial, it was revealed that her actions made a destructive event called the Reckoning War possible.
However, comments made by the future Southpaw , divulge that the war, though a terrible and dark time, will be favorably resolved.
A permanently depowered Jennifer Walters finds that tourists from an alternate universe — designated the Alpha universe — are crossing into her universe — which they call Beta — to gain access to superpowers and comes face to face with her own powered-up doppelganger. Jennifer confirms that her Alpha counterpart slept with Juggernaut but her anger quickly turns to sorrow as she realizes that without her abilities, the Alpha Jennifer Walters — while unfamiliar with superhuman law — is far better suited to life in the Beta universe.
Realizing this, she decides that she will go to the Alpha universe and let the other Jennifer Walters take over for her. As she steps through the portal, Reed Richards realizes he can use the previously stored configuration of the Alpha She-Hulk to restore Jennifer's powers. Having regained her abilities, Jennifer remains in her home reality, while the Alpha Jen Walters returns to her own universe and reconciles with her boyfriend, the Alpha Augustus "Pug" Pugliese.
Lyra later infiltrated the Intelligencia , where she found Jennifer in stasis. During the Serpent's War , Jen formed a team called the Fearsome Four with Howard the Duck , Frankenstein's Monster , and Nighthawk to stop the Man-Thing who found himself driven to uncontrollable rage, caused by the immense levels of fear generated by the Serpent's hammer-wielders across the globe.
Facing various alternate universe heroes and the Psycho-Man , brought to Earth by the Man-Thing's connection to the Nexus of All Realities , [] the four were eventually able to confront their own fears and calm the Man-Thing, bringing an end to his rampage and saving the world before going their separate ways.
During a charity event, Jennifer spotted the newly-rebuilt Vision and promptly sought to make amends with him due to her being driven to her primal Hulk state and tearing him in half as part of one of the times Wanda lost her grip on her sanity and control of her powers. They had a brief conversation, where she expressed her regret for what happened, and Vision forgave her.
She then told him not to get mad at Wanda before leaving. Shortly after, she sided with the Avengers in the conflict against the X-Men and was sent to keep an eye on the Jean Grey School together with Moon Knight and Falcon after some of the school's teachers decided to join Cyclops. A fight soon broke out as Frenzy goaded Moon Knight. Jennifer seriously injured some kids who tried to attacked her which led to the rest of the school's faculty attacking them as well.
When the original Fantastic Four planned a trip through time and space, they decided to call four replacements just in case something would happen. The Thing's replacement was Jen, and the four original members indeed got lost in their adventure.
Shortly after, Luke Cage started his Mighty Avengers charity and assistance organization, Walters came on board as house counsel and an occasional field member. After the disbandment of her previous teams, Jennifer encountered Singularity , just before the two were attacked by Antimatter , who had pursued Singularity from orbit. Queen Medusa then arrived with a large force of Inhumans and placed handcuffs on Singularity, planning to turn her over to Antimatter.
After Antimatter killed an Inhuman, however, Medusa was convinced that delivering Singularity to it was not the best approach, and the three women engaged Antimatter in combat, quickly finding themselves outmatched. Hoping to buy themselves some time, Medusa utilized a piece of prototype Inhuman technology to teleport Antimatter near the Moon and the trio was then teleported by Singularity to Japan , accidentally crashing the wedding of Nico Minoru 's cousin. They quickly explained the situation to Nico as Antimatter arrived once more, only to be temporarily banished by the magic of the Staff of One.
The rest of the women demanded that Singularity explain what was happening and what she knew about Antimatter. As Singularity told them about her time in Battleworld , Captain Marvel called them to discuss a plan to use Singularity as bait and lure the pursuing entity into being bombarded with light particles in order to find its weakness.
Hearing this, Singularity told them she knew exactly who could help them, so they traveled to Miami to meet Alison Blaire the former X-Man known as Dazzler. There was a brief pause in the action before the team changed into space suits to fight Antimatter outside the space station.
During the fight, Alison was hit by an energy blast, which killed her when it depressurized her spacesuit. Back on the station, Singularity blamed herself for being talked into staying behind and teleported to the Blue Area of the Moon alone, in order to confront Antimatter once and for all.
When the bomb exploded, a revived Alison teleported in and whisked Singularity away just in time. After some discussion about who the team leader should be, they traveled to Astoria , Oregon , to fight the mysterious shape-shifter known as the Countess. While there, the team, now going by A-Force , encountered Alison's displaced Thor counterpart , who was fighting the Countess before their arrival.
They decided to join the battle, but the Countess disappeared. Unbeknownst to them, she was actually lurking in the shadows and soon took control of Nico's mind to betray her teammates. Knowing that Nico was their only chance of defeating the Countess and realizing that she was already pushing her powers to the limit, She-Hulk devised a plan to separate her from Nico and allow them to sneak behind her back to rescue her.
The operation went according to plan and, thanks to Dazzler Thor's sacrifice, Nico was able to defeat the Countess. After this, She-Hulk was officially declared the team leader. Facility in search for a Cosmic Cube. The heroes were initially at an advantage, since they had become aware of Thanos' attack before it happened due to a vision from the Inhuman pre-cog Ulysses Cain. Thanos was defeated, but not before he managed to kill War Machine and critically injured She-Hulk after the heroes had lost their initial edge.
Ulysses' vision became a source of discord in the superhuman community, erupting in the second superhuman Civil War. However, the stress from these events would occasionally cause Jen to uncontrollably transform into her Grey Hulk persona, [28] who had a substantial increase in muscle mass, but a decrease in mental acuity.
At her new firm, Bradley was appointed as her assistant and, as soon as she got to the office, she was notified she had her first client, Maise Brewn , waiting for her.
Maise was also recovering from trauma and was being evicted by her landlord, Mr. Tick, so Jennifer agreed to help her. Tick, a couple of cops, and even tried to kill Jen, but she transformed into her new Grey Hulk persona and defeated the golem, ultimately stopping Maise from committing suicide.
In the end, Maise was arrested for reckless endangerment. Later, Jennifer was watching a live baking video on the internet when a baker named Oliver turned into a Hulk-like creature on camera. After fighting the new Thor [] and having to face yet another hulk-level monster this time, part of one of the Leader 's plan , Jen decided to meet Florida Mayer , a best-selling author of many self-help books that had been trying to help Jen since her accident.
During the session, Flo gave Jen a special pill to help her find herself and, suddenly, Jen began experiencing its effects, appearing to have become a giant floating head. After confronting her Hulk persona and Thanos in her subconscious, she regained a body and encountered Bruce, having to finally confront all her fear, rage, and insecurity.
When she woke up, after saying goodbye to her cousin, she had torn Flo's room apart and was back to being green She-Hulk. When the Final Host of Dark Celestials attacked the Earth, they infected all normal Celestials with the Horde and tossed them at the planet. The Celestial imbued Jen with an additional dose of gamma radiation, increasing the power levels of her hulked-out self. The power-up affected Jen's transformation, making her bulkier and "savage" once more.
During this time, Jen started going by "Hulk" and became romantically infatuated with Thor Odinson. With time, Walters realized she was more comfortable in her bulkier Hulk form than she had been with her previous ones, having grown increasingly angry with how others had not always taken her seriously due to her attractive appearance. After the Avengers received a call from the Blue Area of the Moon, they went to investigate it only to meet Swordsman and Quoi of the Cotati.
While warning the heroes about the coming of the United Alliance , Swordsman directed the Hulk to a hidden place in their garden and [] one of the Cotati mages used the tendrils of the ultra-strong centaurian ironwood to restrain her. This allowed the Swordsman to kill her and infest her as a sleeper agent , to infiltrate Earth's heroes. During the Empyre invasion on Earth, when the Thing, Invisible Woman, and Mantis tried to convince Quoi to give up his vendetta against non-plant based beings, the Cotati-possessing Hulk revealed itself and attacked them.
Jennifer, however, was able to return to life due to the Leader, who had figured out a way to control the Green Door.
